Global Engineering Leader Sandvik Deepens Roots in Saskatoon With New Facility Expansion

SREDA is proud to congratulate Sandvik on its recently announced expansion in Saskatoon’s North Marquis Industrial Area—a significant investment that underscores the Saskatoon Region’s growing role as a hub for mining and mining supply chain companies.

Supported by the City of Saskatoon’s Business Development Incentive, administered by SREDA, Sandvik has committed to a $51 million investment in a new, purpose-built facility. This expansion will enhance Sandvik’s ability to support mining operations across the Saskatoon Region and throughout Central and Western Canada.

As a global high-tech engineering leader, Sandvik delivers cutting-edge solutions that improve productivity, efficiency, and sustainability in the mining sector. The new 51,000-square-foot facility will consolidate mechanical cutting, parts and services, and aftermarket support operations, ultimately driving efficiency and supporting long-term growth across Saskatchewan’s potash and uranium industries.

“Building on the momentum of our recent Sudbury announcement, this facility is about expanding capability and readiness,” said Peter Corcoran, Vice President, Sales Area Canada, Sandvik Mining.

“The Saskatoon facility will strengthen our local presence in a key mining region and ensure we have the capacity, infrastructure and expertise to support our customers well into the future.”

Groundworks are underway, with full operations anticipated by Q4 2026. Once operational, the facility will be home to 17 new permanent jobs, contributing to the Region’s skilled workforce and economic resilience.

“The Saskatoon Region is home to some of the world’s leading mining companies, offering significant growth opportunities for both the mining sector and the supply chain partners that support it. Sandvik’s investment is a prime example of seizing this opportunity,” said Erin Lawson, CEO of SREDA. “This expansion strengthens our mining supply chain, adds new jobs, and reinforces our Region’s reputation as a globally competitive hub for industry and innovation. We couldn’t be more proud to support Sandvik on this project.”

SREDA is pleased to support Sandvik’s expansion alongside the City of Saskatoon. This investment further reinforces the Saskatoon Region’s global reputation for industrial excellence and its critical role in feeding and powering the world.
