SREDA is pleased to announce the winner of the first annual Board Director of the Year Award, Steve Danners, Chief Operating Officer of the Clarence Campeau Development Fund.
New this year, the Board Director of the Year award was created by the SREDA management team to celebrate Board leadership that goes above and beyond in terms of setting SREDA’s strategic direction and navigating challenges and opportunities to ensure SREDA remains a leading economic development organization.
The award was presented to Steve Danners at SREDA’s Annual General Meeting on May 6th along with a cassette of Danners’ favourite album, Cheap Trick at Budokan.
“I am very honoured to receive the first ever Board Director of the Year Award,” said Danners. “I joined SREDA’s Board almost 3 years ago because of CEO Alex Fallon’s commitment to and passion for Indigenous issues – how to grow Saskatoon and be inclusive while doing it. SREDA’s Board of Directors are made up of professional people and community-minded business leaders committed to making our city a better place to live, and I am proud to play a small role in this. SREDA remains a national leader, promoting economic development for Indigenous and Non-Indigenous businesses in Saskatoon. The organization has a profound effect on the local economy, from investment attraction, engagement with industry, marketing & communications and strong advocacy for fair and equal access to opportunity for First Nations and Métis people.”
“SREDA is lucky to be guided by an excellent Board of Directors,” said Alex Fallon, SREDA Team Lead and CEO. “Steve Danners’ outstanding leadership is evident in everything that he does with the SREDA Board. He was instrumental in the creation of SREDA’s Indigenous committee, and his consistent dedication in advocating for economic development that benefits all people – Indigenous and non-Indigenous alike – is truly exceptional. Our entire community is the better for his service.”
The Board Director of the Year award will next be presented at SREDA’s Annual General Meeting in 2022.
