About SREDA

Founded in 1992, the Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Authority (SREDA) works with the City of Saskatoon, Regional Municipalities and 150 private sector investors to strengthen and grow the Saskatoon Region economy.

SREDA provides programs and services around six core areas to help grow the local economy: Business Attraction; Business Expansion; Entrepreneurship; Economic Forecasting and Analysis; Regional Economic Development and Planning; and Marketing the Saskatoon Region.

To support its economic forecasting and analysis pillar, SREDA is seeking a highly motivated individual to assume the role of Specialist, Business & Economics under the direction of the Director, Marketing and Communications. The Specialist will be a key role within the SREDA team researching business issues and preparing briefing material for internal and external audiences.

The Specialist, Business & Economics will have responsibility for the following:

• Daily review of local, national and international news to prepare the morning ‘NEWSflash’
• Research topical business issues (e.g. trade issues, taxes, key sectors, commodity markets, etc.)
• Assist in the preparation of SREDA’s Annual Economic Forecast and Quarterly Dashboards
• Assist in the preparation of SREDA Insights reports on topical business/economic issues
• Assisting in the preparation of multi-media material to communicate key economic trends for the Saskatoon Region.
• Assisting in the development and delivery of the SREDA Economic Outlook Forum
• Develop info-graphics/material on economic trends and issues utilizing the resources of SREDA’s Marketing & Communications team
• Represent SREDA ‘in the business community’ to develop a network of business professionals and companies that SREDA can assist with business growth issues
• Prepare presentations on business topics
• Other duties as assigned by the Director, Marketing & Communications and/or CEO

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in Economics or Commerce; preference may be given to applicants with a finance major.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the areas of business research and economic analysis.
• Must have a strong understanding of the issues affecting businesses and the local economy.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
• An understanding of key economic indicators.
• Experience gathering and analyzing research material.
• Must have the ability to produce concise and accurate briefing material.
• Ability to work under pressure / tight deadlines.

Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The salary range for this position is $48,000 to $59,000 depending on experience.
