The Saskatoon Public School Division (SPSD) is one of the two largest school divisions in Saskatchewan with 43 elementary schools and 10 secondary schools in Saskatoon serving approximately 20,000 students.
The SPSD provides an extensive range of student services including:
  • Special education support;
  • Special services teams of educational psychologists, counselors, social workers, and speech and language pathologists;
  • Transportation of special needs, French Immersion, and out of area students;
  • Before and after school care programs;
  • Expanded core second languages;
  • Outdoor School;
  • Media School;
  • Work Education Programs;
  • Jazz Studies and Aviation Studies; and
  • High school academies in dance, hockey, science & technology, leadership, career & experiential learning, and tourism.
  • Extracurricular activities to provide for all interests including athletic, social and artistic.

The Prairie Spirit School Division provides education to students attending the 44 elementary and secondary schools in the towns located around the city of Saskatoon. The division emphasizes six effective practices to support positive learning outcomes for students, including:

The Saskatoon Catholic School system serves more than 15,000 students in six high schools, 33 elementary schools and two associate schools. The mandate of the Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools is to assist parents and the local church community in the education of every student’s heart, mind, body and spirit.

Elementary school children follow a balanced program including language arts, mathematics, health, physical education, religion, science, social studies, arts education, computer education, career education and practical and applied arts. Band instruction is also available at most schools.

The Catholic High Schools offer a comprehensive program for students in grades 9 to 12, fostering academic excellence, interest in the wider world and preparation for opportunities after high school. Extensive extracurricular and intramural programs promote the development of artistic, athletic and leadership skills. Other services include a career academy, advanced placement (university-level programming), Cyber School, and developmental and academic programs for aboriginal students.

Saskatchewan’s only Francophone school division operates one school in Saskatoon with an enrollment of 250 students.

The Fransaskois School is a French educational establishment where spiritual growth is encouraged, where excellence in the academic, social, cultural and athletic fields is a priority and where vital partnerships exist between school, family and the community. Their vision is to create an atmosphere where students:

  • Thrive and are proud of their cultural heritage and mother tongue;
  • Value respect of others and of self, as well as their mental, ethical and physical well-being; and are prepared to pursue post-secondary studies in either of Canada’s two official languages or to integrate into the labour market as productive members of society.
