Lifestyles – Activities & Recreation – Sports & Leisure

With a wide range of sporting and recreational activities, it’s no surprise Saskatonians like to keep busy.  From golf courses to amateur and professional sports, there’s something for everyone.

Fishing – Saskatchewan has over 100,000 lakes, rivers and streams.  As a central point in Saskatchewan, Saskatoon is within a 200 km (120 mile) radius of a majority of the fishing areas in Saskatchewan.  Within the city, the South Saskatchewan River contains walleye, the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo has a stocked fishing pond, and  nearby Diefenbaker Lake and Blackstrap Provincial Park have lakes well endowed with fish.  The tourism guide will guide you to the fishing holes.

Golf Courses – Surrounded by 9 golf courses, one could golf a new round every day, or become a member of a favourite course.  Municipal, public and private courses roll through the prairie plains, boasting 9, 18, and 27 hole courses.  For a complete listing of courses, visit the Tourism Saskatoon Business Directory.

Organized Programs – There are multiple camps and programs offered for children and adults; these range from art to sport or academic curriculum.  The City’s Civic Centres run thousands, while the Unviersity and private organizations also run their own fantastic programs.
