SREDA is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a Lunch with Timothy Lane, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada. Deputy Governor Lane oversees the Bank’s analysis of international economic developments and as a member of the Bank’s Governing Council, he shares responsibility for decisions with respect to monetary policy and financial system stability, and for setting the strategic direction of the Bank.
This is the first speech in Saskatoon by a Bank of Canada representative in almost three years. With the recently overnight lending rate increase by the Bank (first in nearly ten years), the timing of this event could not be better. With Deputy Governor Lane’s expertise in the area of international economic developments and his significant influence in setting the strategic direction for the Bank, we are looking forward to a very informative presentation. On another note, September is expected to be the beginning of NAFTA talks, which will give us another topic of international significance to learn more about for the Deputy Governor.
