About Us – Projects
As part of its core service delivery, SREDA works on business and economic development projects to maintain and grow the Saskatoon Region and the Province of Saskatchewan. While each of SREDA’s projects differ in size and scope, each is developed to address key issues and to work collaboratively toward the best solutions.
SREDA’s business and economic development projects may differ from year to year based on development needs in the region and province; however, our unwavering commitment to deliver the highest quality projects for businesses, key stakeholders, communities and various levels of government remains the same. Below is a snapshot of some of SREDA’s current business and economic development projects.
Grow Opportunity
This SREDA project is setting out to determine the future economic development initiatives and by collaborating with regional stakeholders to aid in the growth and expansion of the Saskatoon Region economy. By receiving local knowledge, we are gaining insight into local business’ needs, strengths, weaknees and potential for growth.
This is an opportunity to overcome obstacles or problems which may be standing in the way to a long and successful future in the community.
Foreign Direct Investment Program
Foreign direct investment is another avenue of economic importance to build on the strength of our current resources and continue to grow on the international stage.
SREDA works closely with our partners to identify and advance common interests, provide policy advice, strategic analysis and pursue opportunities that result in further growth, diversification and competitiveness of the regional economy. SREDA has and will continue to participate in strategically targeted trade initiatives and will continue to work collaboratively with the C-11 team to promote investment opportunities in Canada. Regional Economic Development Planning
Collaborative regional economic development planning is the key to ensuring stability and long-term growth in the region. SREDA works closely with both individual municipalities and regional groups toward a common goal of sustainable development planning for long-term growth. SREDA has recently partnered to tackle infrastructure issues such as the Dalmeny Access Road/Highway #305 Project, undertaken GIS mapping initiatives and facilitated the sharing economic and business best practices to assist in moving the Saskatoon Region forward together.
GIS Mapping
SREDA uses GIS mapping technology to assist our business attraction and business retention expansion clients for site selection and also for regional economic development planning purposes.
Ambassador Program
SREDA started a new program in late 2010 to promote the Saskatoon Region as the place to live, work, invest and prosper.
Local Ambassador Program - Through SREDA’s new Ambassador Program, we are engaging each of the 31 municipalities that fall within the SREDA Enterprise Region boundaries to participate in initiatives to always have our best foot forward when at local, provincial, national and international events.
Community Trade Missions
In early November 2010, SREDA embarked on a fact-finding mission with 5 regional community representatives to learn and help bring the best economic development practices back to the Saskatoon Region. SREDA identified the Calgary area as the pilot mission location due to the rapid growth that the area experienced over the past number of years. Best practices were shared and new relationships formed, making the trade mission an overwhelming success. Since that first trip SREDA has toured the Winnipeg and Edmonton regions to share information about enhancing economic opportunities and build relationships throughout Western Canada.
