You’re going to have to do a lot of travelling if you’re an international company.
We now have, out of Saskatoon, direct flights to Denver, Minneapolis, and Chicago. And from there, it’s a quick shot to New York, or Washington, or Orlando, Florida. I can go to Vancouver and Toronto multiple times a day and meet with investors, etc. It is a very exciting place to be. – Neil McMillan, President & CEO
My family loves Saskatoon. Lots of facilities for our boys, whether they want to grow up and learn to play hockey, or follow swimming, or whatever activities they want to follow; it’s certainly there for them in Saskatoon. And if they want to stay in Saskatoon and go to university, it’s one of the best universities in Canada, in Saskatoon. And so, my family is certainly happy to be in Saskatoon. – Philip Ng, V.P., Operations
Phenomenome Discoveries
At Phenome, we focus on measuring or diagnosing disease, treating disease, as well as monitoring health.
Today, we see a lot more world-leading human health research being done in Saskatoon and through organizations like the Economic Development organizations, organizations like Ag-West, as well as the government and kind of tax environment in Canada was really beneficial, and has proven to be beneficial over the last 10 years of operation. - Alix Hayden, Manager, Marketing & Comm.
That’s what I heard before I came here: people are very friendly, compared with any other province. When I came here, it is true! If you go to a bigger city, they don’t have a city value. If you are too many people, you will get lot with everything. It’s unique around here… You value your city. I like the city because small enough/big enough. Small that I can go around in very short time. – Khine Khine Su-Myat

City of Saskatoon
One of SREDA’s other major funding partners is the City of Saskatoon. SREDA began as the industrial Development Department in the 1960′s and in September 1992, Sakatoon City Council passed Bylaw 7308 which created the Economic Development Authority of Saskatoon (EDA). The organization experienced considerable growth from 1992 to 1996 and following negotiations with Saskatoon City Council, the EDA Bylaw was rescinded on December 31, 1996 making way for a new corporation, the Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Authority Inc., to take responsibility for the provision of economic development services in the Saskatoon Region commencing January 1, 1997.
Since that time, SREDA has contined to work closely with the City of Saskatoon to provide business development and economic development services. SREDA assists in administering business development incentives and works together with various city departments to help with planning initiatives, attracting new businesses and helping existing Sakatoon businesses to grow and expand.
